News with a little attitude

Talk about how journalism jobs are changing! The Florida Times-Union is planning a daily news segment on its Web site, jacksonville.com, and is advertising for a video blogger, “someone who can report the news with a little attitude and a lot of personality.”

Are you entrepreneurial and creative? Are you Web savvy? Are you confident in front of a camera? Can you report the news? Do watch The Daily Show with Jon Stewart? Do you cruise YouTube? Have you ever seen Joanne Colan of Rocketboom? If you said, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes and yea!, we may have a great job for you…We want someone who is creative. Really creative. Imaginative. Entrepreneurial.

Applicants are asked to send a 2-minute DVD along with a resume. And you thought newspapers just wanted clips. Thanks to Mark Briggs at Journalism 2.0 for pointing out the ad. As Mark notes: “For those who work at newspapers in the jobs they were hired in and haven’t changed with the digital times, this should send a message. The same for students who are working towards journalism degrees to get a job that has no innovative qualities (read: traditional).”
